Education and Social Impact Consultant

Liliana Biglou OBE is a high performing consultant with 25 years of experience leading complex country and regional level operations for the British Council overseas. She is a former Director of British Council Kazakhstan and currently sits on the Advisory Board for Africa Technology Business Network (ATBN).

Liliana has initiated, developed and implemented many significant education projects, bringing together governments, industry, foundations, and academia to support youth training, close skills gap, increase productivity and spur economic growth. She has worked with World Bank, DfiD, EU and many other agencies. Examples of her recent work include projects with Rockefeller Foundation, Barclays Bank and Coventry University which trained 9,000 youth, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and resulted in 64% youth employment and business start-ups; and a project with Vodafone to help train STEM teachers and support 300 girls to study STEM subjects in secondary schools.

In October 2017 Liliana started her own education and social impact consultancy. She is particularly interested in the role of education in transformational change, social impact and maximizing demographic dividend. Liliana was made Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2004 for her work promoting a wider knowledge of the UK; she is the recipient of Honorary Medal of the Supreme Council of Ukraine for achievements in education services to the Ukrainian Nation (2005); she was listed in WomenRising and The African Network of Entrepreneurs Top 50 Women Corporate Leaders in Ghana in 2016, and in February 2018 she was awarded a Female Ghana Achievement by the Business Executive magazine.
